Clarification on Customer/Consumer APIs

I am attempting to understand the internal difference between a 'Customer' and a 'Consumer' - I have been implementing against Consumer (1.2.0) B2B and Customer Onboarding (1.1.4) B2B - from the postman collections they are different types of customer-id's - so my assumption is there is some internal difference. I am curious if I even need the Consumer endpoints.

Up to 8 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 1.0 MiB each and 10.0 MiB total.

There are not related , one API is working with Malauzai , a North American focus core system , one is working with Essence and Equation 2 products targeting rest of the world.

Thank you for the clarification. I just realized that the Onboarding API is not for US based banking. Is there an API that allows creation/modification of consumers?
